Susan Garnsworthy has enjoyed a varied working life and interests. She worked in the Netherlands in publishing before moving to Scotland in 1990.  She has worked in book businesses, local government, the voluntary sector in arts and culture and as a freelance consultant for the Glasgow Mackintosh group. She started Gaelforce, a cross art form festival which grew to be the largest community arts festival in Scotland , and was the creative producer for the Creative Mackintosh Festival 2012 – 2014  and the 2017 Borders Heritage Festival.

She has been a volunteer trustee for Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival 1997 – 2004  and  2008-11 and Alchemy Film and Arts 2014 -2019 and is currently a trustee of both the Saltire Society and the Saltire Society Trust. She has been active with the Saltire Society both nationally and locally since joining in 1998.
