Our Past Projects

STOP PRESS We are excited to begin work supporting a group of researchers uncovering more of the history of the Saltire Society during 2024 and 2025. We will have more information soon on this fascinating project, ways to get involved and how you can find out more.

The Saltire Society was founded almost 90 years ago and has always worked to promote and stimulate activity in key areas of Scottish life.

In some of our areas of activity, we are delighted that new and inspiring players have emerged. This means we are able to step back and focus our efforts on other priority areas instead. For example, until 2019 we ran the Saltire Civil Engineering Awards. We were delighted by the establishment of the CECA and ICE Awards. In 2011, the Society ran its last National Scottish Song competition as the place of school choirs had been firmly re-established (with quite a lot of help from the US television series Glee).

For more on our history, you can visit the Scottish National Archive at the National Library of Scotland.
