Professor Hector McQueen gave the lecture at the Laigh Hall of Parliament House in Edinburgh on the subject of Andrew Dewar Gibb and his role and motivation in founding the Saltire Society 90 years ago. It was attended by Dewar Gibb’s grand-daughter and a near capacity audience, despite it being one of the hottest days of the year so far.

Professor Hector MacQueen CBE FBA FRSE is Emeritus Professor of Private Law at the University of Edinburgh and a former Dean of its Law School and Deputy Head of the College of Humanities and Social Science. He is also a former member of the Scots Law Commission.

We are grateful to the Faculty of Advocates for hosting the lecture and to Member and former Trustee Laura Scott for her generous support of this event, in memory of her husband former Convenor and President Paul Henderson Scott.

The lecture will be available to watch via our YouTube channel soon.
