Glasgow
Convenor: Duncan Maclaren
The Glasgow branch meets in the Glasgow Art Club on the second Tuesday evening of the months from October to March. We celebrate Glasgow as a foundational centre for the Scottish Enlightenment and our topics reflect Enlightenment-inspired curiosity about the world and Scotland’s place in it. Recently we have explored topics as diverse as Islamic Art in the Burrell Collection, Scotland’s languages and music, and the role of repurposed tower blocks in meeting net-zero targets. We have welcomed artist-speakers including novelist James Robertson, playwright Douglas Maxwell, crime writer Alex Gray (aka Sandra McGruther) and visual artist Dominic Cullen.
