2015 Saltire Society Literary Awards Winners

on the 26th November at Central Hall, Edinburgh the 2015 Saltire Society Literary Awards were announced.

Scottish Book of the Year

When I emigrated from Australia to a remote part of Scotland in 1993, I never expected that it would be the beginning rather than the end of my literary career. I'm so moved and grateful that this honour has been bestowed on my work. You've made an alien feel very welcome!

Michel Faber

We are thrilled at Canongate that Michel Faber’s magnetic novel has won the Saltire Fiction Book of the Year Award 2015. This year’s shortlist was of a particularly high standard.

“Described by David Mitchell as Faber’s ‘second masterpiece’ The Book of Strange New Things is a remarkable feat. Defying genre, it is a gripping tale of endeavour, faith and love which asks what could hold two people together even when they are worlds apart.

“Our world at times looks like a cracked, imperfect place, its future uncertain. Like the finest literature, Michel Faber’s novel offers a kind of road map, and, with it, hope.”
