THE 2008/2009 PROGRAMME WILL BE AVAILABLE IN AUGUST 2007 Tuesday 19 October Title to be Confirmed Ernie Walker CBE Tuesday 13 November On Scottish Identity Annabel Goldie MSP Tuesday 11 December Title to be confirmed Dave Anderson 2008 Tuesday 12 February What Walter Scott did for Hollywood David Bruce Tuesday 11 March Enlightenment and the refashioning of Scottish Identity Charles McKean Professor of Scottish Architectural History, Dundee The April meeting will take the form of a visit to the new BBC building on the Clyde. The Visit has been agreed in principle but the date is to be arranged later. Meetings will be held in Cranberries, Candleriggs, Glasgow and will take the form of Salons Philosophiques. Evenings commence at 7.00 p.m. with a two-course supper. This is followed by a 20 minute introduction on the topic by the guest speaker. The audience is then invited to 'pitch in' and develop the speaker's ideas - or even criticise them! The format comes from the Age of Enlightenment in the 18th century - so we may, or may not, provide some enlightenment. It will not be too serious.
