Carol MacBain, BArch DipArch FRIAS RIBA
Carol graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1990 and gained professional experience working with Lee Boyd Architects before joining Reiach and Hall as an architect in 2000. She became an associate in 2001, associate director in 2004 and a director in 2007.
Carol is active across the whole range of the practice’s work and has played a key leadership role in a number of residential and educational projects; she also has significant commercial, public, arts and healthcare experience. Many of the projects she has been involved in have won awards, including Succoth Heights and Upper Strand housing developments in Edinburgh.
She has been involved in the recently completed award-winning schemes; Aurora House Office Development for Clydebank Rebuilt, a new Medical Sciences Building for The University of St Andrews, new campus buildings at Stirling and Alloa for Forth Valley College and Inspace for Edinburgh University.
Carol currently leads project teams designing a Maggies Centre in Lanarkshire, the Bannockburn Battlefield Visitor Centre for The National Trust for Scotland, refurbishment and fit-out projects for further and higher education clients, alongside a number of residential projects in central Scotland.
Carol was awarded an RIAS Fellowship, along with fellow Reiach and Hall directors, in 2012.
