Lorimer Mackenzie, Chairman of Council

Brought up and educated in Leith and Edinburgh; graduated MA (Mental Philosophy from Edinburgh University,1964; professional bureaucrat for 31 years, joined Scottish Office, 1964 and later European Commission, 1973, retiring 2001 as Director of Entrepreneurship. Interest in Scottish literature and language, collector of antiquarian books (mainly Scottish) and Scottish pictorial art (Wilkie to Blackadder/Houston) ; member of the editorial board of International Journal of Entrepreneurship; Chevalier de l’Ordre National de Merite (France) 2001, member of Council since 2004, Chairman January 2010.
